Areola Tattoo

What is Areola Tattoo or Areola Permanent Cosmetics

Maryna is certified in creating or enhancing the areola and nipple to match natural breasts following breast cancer, reconstruction or other events that have impacted breast appearance.

Three-dimensional “3D” areola and nipple tattooing is a method that is used to create an image of a nipple on the skin with dimensional shading within the pigment of the tattoo ink. This technique adds visual realism to the coloration used to restore the nipple pigment.

There are a number of benefits of 3D nipple pigment application. Application of color to the well-shaped breast reconstruction restores realism to the overall result. Nipple restoration also provides a focal point with the breast mound that reduces the appearance of scar lines in the reconstructed breast.

Who should consider Areola Tattoo or Areola Permanent Cosmetics

Enhancing of the areola and nipple with permanent makeup is mainly intended for breast cancer survivors, women who have undergone breast augmentation and MTF and FTM surgeries. The procedure can also be used for women who wish to enhance the appearance of their breasts and correct color or pigment differences.

When Nipple Sparing Mastectomy (“NSM”) isn’t an option or breast reconstruction takes place at a time after mastectomy (“delayed reconstruction”), the newly reconstructed breast may be completed with a recreation of the nipple as the finishing touch.

Maryna will review and discuss all options and recommend the best possible procedure to give her customer the results she is looking for.

Post-procedure treatment

After the procedure Maryna will apply a specially formulated film (called Tegaderm) which ensuring proper healing and reduces the chances of infections. The customer can check the nipple after 1-2 days and ensure there is no excessive redness or blistering. If so the patient should visit Maryna for a follow-up.

This “band aid” is transparent, water resistant, keeps bacteria out and ensures that the tattoo area remains moist. After a week the patient can remove the film, clean with a non-abrasive skin cleansing product, air-dry for 45 minutes and apply a gentle lotion after 24 hours.
